GRAVITY FED DRIP HOSES
ARE AN ABSOLUTE GARNENING NECESSITY! Designed to operate from very low pressure sources, they are ideal for use with rainwater tanks and SUPADIVERTA. New to the market, most gardeners are unaware of their existence and confuse them with LOW PRESSURE Drip Hoses. As the quality Gravity Fed Drip Hoses are invariably more expensive than their Low Pressure cousins, they are soon relegated to the stores lower shelf or floor where they remain unloved gathering dust! So how do they work and why are they so good?
AQUATREK has extensively tested several Gravity Fed Drip Hoses and others will be tested during the year. The following observations pertain to the quality Holman `Green Hose’.
AQUATREK suggests using 19mm polypipe to supply the drip hose. Join hoses with reducing joiners.
HANDY HINT: SUPADIVERTA filters a lot of material with its 0.75mm mesh filter and the flush outlet continually extracts smaller, heavier debris (sand) that passes through the filter mesh. The water can be further filtered by inline filters (generally 80-175 micron) fitted to the mainline. These however can quickly block, particularly during heavy rain as fine debris will still pass through the two stage filtering system.
POROUS HOSES
AQUATREK has been impressed to date with the compatibility of LEEAKY HOSE with SUPADIVERTA. Designed to operate from low pressure sources, LEEAKY HOSE has so far performed well and proven resilient to pore blockages and root invasion. The manufacturer claims LEEAKY HOSE is also suitable for both bore and dam water and a filter is not needed at pressures under 25Kpa (2½ metre head). Long term testing is ongoing with this Australian designed and 100% recycled product.
